After the 2016 Latin Grammy nominees were announced on Wednesday (Sept. 21), there was no better way to end the exciting day than with the official kick-off of the 6th annual Latin Grammy Acoustic Sessions in Los Angeles, where Mexican singer/songwriter Carlos Rivera and duo Sin Bandera serenaded the crowd at an intimate showcase.
“I am very happy that the Latin Recording Academy invited me to be part of this, and it’s even more special to be here when we just found out who the nominees are. We’re celebrating them this way, with music, how it should be done,” Rivera told Billboard exclusively just minutes before jumping onstage at the Ace Hotel Theater.
“Tonight I get to share the stage and this magical night with my two great friends Leonel García and Noel Schajris from Sin Bandera,” he continued. “Leonel and I wrote ‘Otras vidas’ together so it means a lot. I feel like a little kid here, I admire them so much.”
The “Deja amarte” singer, who is currently on his Yo Creo Tour, set the tone for the acoustic concert with romantic ballads like “Cómo pagarte?,” “Otras vidas” and “Serás.”

Then, Sin Bandera took the stage to end the acoustic session, playing their biggest hits, including “Mientes tan bien,” “Amor real,” “Que lloro,” “Te vi venir” and “En ésta no” — the last nominated for Song of the Year.
